"Saved Locations" tab has a new, manual "Update" button. This tab is also automatically set to update about every 30 minutes.
Warnings tab also has a new, manual "Update" button so you can manually get an update at any time for the local warnings in your area (U.S. only)
New option when choosing a Personal Weather Station (PWS location), you can now choose the location to get the missing/additional data as well as
the official forecast. See Preferences window, under the Conditions tab.
Record high and Record low now include the year of the record high and low.
Removed temperature gauge (until I can provide something better)
Fix to weather warning logic
Misc. improvements
7.23:
Fixes to Warnings and News logic.
Other misc. fixes.
7.20 - 7.22:
Various fixes to wallpaper functions. The wallpaper setting "Inactive/Active" are now ignored.
7.19:
Misc. fixes.
Removed requirement for the Microsoft GDIplus.dll (for older Microsoft operating systems).
7.18:
Misc. fixes.
New images added: World Infrared, US Activity Loop, US Radar Mosaic, and other US sector animations.
7.16 - 7.17:
Minor fixes to automatic wallpaper update logic.
New right-click option for main window: "Show/hide main menu bar". This option allows you to optionally hide or show the
main menu bar. This is a nice feature when you're using a minimal display template or have the window sized very small to just
show the temperature, etc.
New "minimal template" provided. This display template simply shows the location, temperature and conditions. So you can resize
the main Weather1 window very small to just see the temperature and conditions. This is just one idea. Create your own html
template by copying and modifying one of the existing templates. To change the template, just right-click on the main menu
and choose "Choose html template". Click here to see how it looks. Have fun!
7.15:
Fix to Windows shutdown issue. Weather1 should close properly when the user does a Windows shutdown/logoff. This is actually
a Microsoft OS bug so I've had to create a work-around.
7.11 - 7.14:
Fixes to moon logic for 2007.
Improvements to the wallpaper logic.
Misc. improvements.
7.10:
Weather1 is shareware again - very few actually made donations and wasn't worth supporting on just a few dollars. :/
If you were an existing customer, your previous registration codes will work with the new version.
Other misc. improvements.
7.06 - 7.07:
Fix to start-up location setting - it wasn't remembering it in recent versions.
Improved alignment of cells in Wallpaper settings grid.
Other misc. improvements.
-> 7.05:
Misc improvements and updates.
Moved Kazakhstan structure from under Asia to Europe.
Moved Indonesia from Australia to Asia.
Locations are now stored in the Weather1.ini file for easy transport, sharing, portable usage, etc.
Misc. improvements in warnings logic - so that if the warnings don't change, you're not notified over and over again. If you have the option set
to alert you of weather warnings, it will only alert you when the warnings change.
Added the announcement of the weather conditions! If it's partly cloudy, you can now optionally have it announce it aloud. Currently only the
default and female1 voices have the corresponding files. If you're creative and want your own voice files, just record them using the Windows
recorder and use the same file names as the existing ones. :)
7.01 - 7.03:
Improved the warnings tab to be cleaner and less cluttered. Just showing you the info you need. :)
Improved the warnings pop-up to also show the actual warnings (just use the little scroll bar button to scroll the window. If
you click the details link, it will show you the Warnings tab of the main Weather1 window.
Other misc. improvements.
7.00:
With Vs. 7.00, Weather1® is now donation-ware! I've decided to try this for a while. No registration codes are needed. If you use
Weather1® and like it, please donate. Why? I want to give
people the option to pay what they think Weather1 is worth to them and I would like more people to be using Weather1 instead of 'weatherbuggy', etc. :)
6.50:
Complete rewrite of previous "SideImage" logic. Weather1 now includes a "Weather1 Image Viewer". It functions very similar to the previous
SideImage, but you can now launch multiple image viewers and each can be independently positioned on your screen and set to auto-update
at the intervals you prefer. This is great if you want to monitor more than one image at a time, and it's completely separate from the position
of the main Weather1 window, so you can keep the image viewer windows open while the main Weather1 window may be minimized. :)
To change the auto-update interval, just right-click the "Frequency" button at the bottom of the Image Viewer.
Fix to wallpaper logic.
Added a lot of satellite and radar images (too many to list).
-> 6.13 - 6.14:
Fixed minor bug during Windows™ shutdown. If you shutdown Windows before closing Weather1, Windows will now shutdown.
-> 6.11 - 6.12:
The main window now remembers it's size.
New Preferences:
Window opacity - you can now set the window opacity (you must have Win2000 or WinXP for this to work).
Hide tabs - you can now optionally hide the Warnings and News tabs. To change these options, view the Preferences window
and select the corresponding section to make the change.
The automatic "check for Weather1 updates" now displays a message at the top of the main window instead of the pop-up window.
New right-click option in main window - "Save to Bitmap". This saves a bitmap image of the main window to a location you choose.
Known issues with 6.12: If you shutdown Windows without closing Weather1 first, Weather1 may not close, so you will need to do one of two things
if you encounter this issue:
Close Weather1 before shutting-down Windows. This is the preferred method anyway. You should always close applications before shutting-down
Windows!
...or...you may have to hit the shut-down option twice if Weather1 doesn't close after the first time.
-> 6.08 - 6.10:
Fixed minor bug during Windows shutdown. Scenario: If you had Weather1 running, then you pressed Start->Shutdown, windows wouldn't shut
down the first time. You had to press it again. Now, this is fixed in Vs. 6.08. :)
Updated links under the Reports menu.
Fixed 'image favorites' functions.
-> 6.05 - 6.07:
A few fixes; including better restoring of window sizes.
New default skin! I welcome your feedback.
The moon phase image has now moved to the main tab page. If you want to change it's location, just edit the html template. :)
New "Warnings" tab - I'm experimenting with this idea. This tab will automatically show your state's weather warnings,
weather statements and advisories, as well as short-term forecasts. I welcome your feedback!
Fixed copy options for main window and forecast window. You can now right-click either window and copy the contents to the clipboard.
Added right-click options to Forecast window to refresh, copy & print the content.
Other misc. improvements.
-> 6.03:
Fixed image links for Choose an Image / Satelite Images / US Satelite Images / Western US 1km Visable Images
Added more U.K. locales.
-> 6.01 - 6.02:
Added separate Wind Chill temperature announcement options (see Preferences window, under the Announcement tab),
and also included WindChill.wav file in the default wav directory.
Misc. fixes.
Small fix to wallpaper logic.
Improved Metric display content.
F5 and F8 keyboard commands now work correctly. F5 refreshes the conditions and F8 updates the wallpaper based on
your wallpaper options. The Weather1 must be the current window for these keys to work. They are not system-wide key shortcuts.
Updated the female1.zip file - added heatindex and windchill wav files. More to come.
Fixed Weather Warning alert sound logic. There is a new checkbox in the Preferences window that you must have checked
for the warning alert wav to be sounded.
Stay-on-Top window option is now remembered each time you run Weather1.
-> 6.00 - new version!:
Includes a new Forecast tab that allows you to easily see the forecast for the
current location you are viewing, including the local radar (not available in all locales).
New customization feature: the main HTML template - you can customize the content of the main window by modifying
the html template. It supports most HTML features, so you can easily customize the fonts,
colors, content, images, etc.
How it works: The html template includes custom 'tags' for the data. When Weather1 gets ready to display data in
the main window, it loads the template and simply replaces the reserved tags with the data. If a tag is missing,
it will not find it, so it will not display that data. You can customize this template as much as you like. It supports
HTML, images (png, gif, animated gif, jpg, bmp), etc. I'll try to add something to the help file soon with more details.
To define which template file to use, you can set it from the Preferences window or by right-clicking the main window
and choosing the 'define' option. To edit the currently defined template, simply right-click the main window
and choose the 'edit' option. NOTE: If you use this, please copy this file and name it something else. The install will overwrite the
default file.
Fixed bug: when double-clicking on a saved location, it now launches the forecast correctly.
Other misc. bug fixes.
Missing feature in 6.00: The magnet feature which keeps the SideImage window attached to the Main window (like WinAmp) is not
working in 6.00. I hope to get it working in the next update.
-> 5.41:
New wallpaper option: you can select individual wallpapers to be active or inactive. Why? In-case you want to keep a wallpaper
on your wallpaper list, but just don't want to update it for a while. Simply choose it to be Inactive and it will be skipped
until you set it Active again. This keeps you from having to reselect it from the list.
Other misc. maintenance.
-> 5.40:
Fixes to the Wallpaper update features.
Moved the "News" content from the small window to a main tab. Everything else functions the same. :)
Added "UV" index to the main data options. You will see it listed at the bottom.
Other misc. maintenance.
-> 5.38:
You can now optionally have Weather1 announce the Heat Index aloud. This option is listed with the Temperature announce options. You
can find these under the Preferences window, under the Announce tab. The beta install comes with the default voice. At this time, the
only other voice file for this event is in the female1.zip (available on the download page).
Other misc. improvements to the sound options.
-> 5.36:
Complete rewrite of custom main window settings. To customize the main window settings, simply right-click in the
main window and choose customize. You can then choose font color/size/style of each field, as well as hide/show
options. You can also adjust the line spacing as well. More improvements to come.
NOTE: You may need to reload and resave these settings for each of the skins you have changed from previous versions of Weather1.
Conditions label has been removed. There wasn't really a need for it and the interface looks better without it. :)
Hide scrollbar in main window - you can right-click the main window and choose 'hide scrollbar' and it will hide it. In this
version you will have to rechoose this option each time you restart Weather1. In the next release, I'll have it remember
your choice.
Other misc. improvements.
-> 5.35:
Major change to Multi-City view window. It has been moved to a tab within the main window. I welcome your feedback on this change. I wanted to
simplify the interface and combine windows so that it takes up less real estate on your screen. Simply click
the "All locations" to view the multi-city view. I may rename this tab to something more intuitive.
-> 5.33:
Added Ethopia, Africa locales.
Improvements to application minimizing.
Sound options were improved. I'm still working on these.
Interface improvements. The warning pop-up is smoother/better now. I will be improving this some more soon - currently
it doesn't show both the Special Weather Statement and Warning if they occur at the same time. You can still get to them
via the Reports menu though.
Sideimage improvements now offer better use of local images. See the forums for tips on how to use local images in the
SideImage window.
Misc. improvements.
-> 5.31 - 5.32:
Improved loading of MSStyles as skins.
Simplified customizations of the main window (right-click main window options). I plan to improve this
more over time.
You can now customize (add to) the news feed options. Currently, under the Preferences window, under
the "General" tab, you'll see a drop-down list of News feeds you can choose from to display in the
News window. I've added to this basic list, but I've also included the ability for you to add your
own favorite news feeds. To do so, simply edit the "xmlnews.txt" file in your Weather1 directory. Click here to
view my posting on the forum.
Other misc. improvements.
